After the increase in flour prices, the Nanbai association demanded an increase in Roti prices in Lahore, the private media outlet reported on Thursday.
According to the Nanbai association, the price of a single roti should be Rs20, and the price of a Nan should be Rs30.
Similarly, the district administration said that on the directions of the Punjab government, the price of a 120-gram roti is Rs70, and the price of a Nan is Rs 30.
The district administration also urged the Nanbai association to sell Roti and nan at the government rate.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore announced strict action against those who will violate the rules by selling Roti and Nan at extra prices.
On the other hand, the tandoor owners in Karachi have signalled a further hike in the price of roti if flour is not made available at the government-mandated rate.
They insist that the availability of flour at the official price must be ensured, stating that they will be compelled to raise prices if they cannot procure it at that rate.
According to the tandoor owners, flour mills continue to sell flour at Rs 145 per kilogram, yet they have not increased the prices of roti and naan.

Earlier, Flour supplies in Rawalpindi and Islamabad had come under pressure after the Punjab Food Department suspended wheat quota permits for flour mills operating in the federal capital and the Rawalpindi Division, sparking fears of a flour shortage and higher prices of roti and naan.
The inner sources revealed that the suspension has disrupted production at several flour mills, affecting the supply of flour in the twin cities. As a result, the price of roti has reportedly increased from Rs17 to Rs25, while naan prices have also risen, adding to consumers’ concerns.
