Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has provided 50 electric vehicles to the Islamabad Police on Tuesday. The step has been taken to promote modern, safe and environmentally friendly policing.
During a ceremony in Islamabad, the PM handed over the keys to the electric vehicles to the Federal Interior Minister and the Inspector General of Police (IG).
While addressing the ceremony, PM Shehbaz stated that all of the possible resources are being provided to modernise the Islamabad Police.
He added that the Islamabad Police should be a role model for other cities in the country.
What is the new Capital Patrol Force?
IG Islamabad said that a new Capital Patrol Force has been established for the security of Islamabad.
How will Capital Patrol Force work?
Each patrol unit will have one male and one female officer. All of the officers will be equipped with body cameras.
Additionally, fifty electric vehicles have been given to the Capital Patrol Force, which will save Rs34 million per month in fuel costs. PM Shehbaz handed over the keys.
How is Islamabad Police being modernised?
Speaking on the occasion, PM Shehbaz said that all possible resources are being provided to develop the Islamabad Police on modern lines.
He added that the police of the federal capital should be a role model for the police of other cities of the country.
The purpose of providing new electric vehicles is to modernise the policing system as well as promote environment-friendly measures.
He further added that the use of modern technology will improve the performance of the police.
This way, the services provided to the citizens can be made more effective.
During the ceremony, the IG Islamabad said that a new Capital Patrol Force has been established to make the security of the federal capital more effective.
He said that each patrol unit will include one male and one female police officer, while all the personnel of the force will be equipped with body cameras.
