Hot and dry weather is continuing across most parts of Pakistan on Sunday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that intense heat is likely to persist in Sindh and southern Balochistan.
According to the PMD, heatwave like conditions are expected in several districts of Sindh and South Balochistan. Temperatures are also likely to remain very high. This also increases the risk of heat related sicknesses.
Most parts of the country are expected to experience hot and dry weather with strong sunshine throughout the day.
People have been advised to take precautionary measures. They have also been asked to avoid spending long hours in direct sunlight.
The PMD has said that some areas of Kashmir, the Potohar region, and northeastern Balochistan may experience partly cloudy weather during the afternoon.
Rain likely in THESE regions of Pakistan
Meanwhile, isolated areas of Punjab are likely to receive rain along with dust storms and thunderstorms.
These conditions may provide temporary relief from the ongoing heat.
The latest weather data showed that Sibi and Turbat were the hottest places in the country. According to the reports, the temperatures reached 49°C. Shaheed Benazirabad and Nokundi recorded 47°C, and Sukkur recorded 43°C.
Hyderabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Dera Ismail Khan recorded 41°C. Multan reached 39°C.
In northern areas of Pakistan, Peshawar and Muzaffarabad recorded 38°C.
Karachi recorded 37°C, Quetta 36°C, and Gilgit 35°C. Islamabad recorded 33°C, while Lahore recorded 30°C.
Weather experts said the current hot spell is being caused by a strong high pressure system over southern Pakistan. The system is trapping hot air and limiting cloud formation. This is leading to higher temperatures.
