Punjab to provide 50,000 e-bikes, 5,000 e-taxis to youth

The Punjab government has decided to provide electric bikes and electric taxis to young people in the next financial year.

According to the sources, the government is planning to offer 50,000 electric bikes and 5,000 electric taxis through interest free financing. A proposal to include the scheme in the upcoming budget has been approved, according to the reports.

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that the eligible individuals will be able to get e taxis through easy instalments and interest free financing.

In addition to this, additional incentives, including registration-related benefits, will also be provided.

He further said that the initiative will create better employment opportunities for thousands of young people. Further, he added that it will help reduce environmental pollution by promoting electric transport.

Details regarding eligibility criteria and the application process are expected to be announced in the upcoming budget and policy documents.

Punjab launches e-Taxi scheme

Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, recently inaugurated Pakistan’s first ever e Taxi scheme.

During the inauguration ceremony of the e Taxi scheme, she distributed keys among successful women candidates.

She reaffirmed her government’s commitment towards women’s economic empowerment in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that she was ‘grateful to Allah Almighty for the successful launching of the e-Taxi Scheme.’

She said that it was a dignified and sustainable scheme of employment, and also a way to show respect to the people of Pakistan.

“The e-Taxi Scheme is a respectable livelihood project and an important one that will contribute to providing employment opportunities to women,” she said.

Big relief announced for bike taxi riders

The Sindh cabinet has approved tax relief for bike taxi riders like Bykea and Indrive to support low income people and reduce their financial burden, according to recent reports.

The decision was made in a meeting chaired by CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House.

According to the details, the cabinet reduced Sindh Sales Tax on motorcycle ride services to help riders and reduce ride cancellations.
