Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has launched a major programme to improve government schools across the province under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During a visit to Multan, the minister inaugurated development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed ongoing education initiatives. He said the School Education Department had sped up the construction of new classrooms and IT labs in public schools.
Punjab Secretary of School Education, Mudassar Riaz Malik, accompanied the minister during the visit. The minister also laid the foundation stone for additional classrooms at the school.
Speaking to the media, Rana Sikandar Hayat said the government is building 25,000 new classrooms across Punjab with an investment worth billions of rupees. He added that the government is also upgrading school boundary walls, setting up IT labs, and improving sports facilities.
The minister said the Punjab government has launched record development projects to provide students with better learning opportunities and modern facilities. He also announced that the government has doubled the per-student subsidy for children studying in schools supported by the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF).
Rana Sikandar Hayat said higher spending on education will help improve the quality of government schools and expand access to education for children across the province.
He added that the Punjab government is giving special attention to strengthening educational infrastructure and directed officials to complete all development projects on time.
