The government of Punjab has decided to provide English language training to the teachers across the province.

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) is about to launch a large-scale Spoken English Language Training Programme aimed at improving the language skills of 35,000 government school teachers across the province.

According to the department, the initiative will focus on enhancing both spoken and written English and will be delivered in line with international standards.

The programme will be implemented in collaboration with Berlitz and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC).

Education officials say the training is intended to strengthen teachers’ professional capabilities and improve the quality of English language instruction in government schools.

Before the start of the programme, participating teachers will undergo an assessment to evaluate their existing level of English proficiency.

The department has also made the completion of a Google Form assessment compulsory for enrolment.

Training sessions will be conducted at designated District PECTAA head offices and selected schools. Classes will be held twice a week, with each session lasting two hours and 15 minutes.

The School Education Department has made full attendance mandatory for all selected participants, stating that complete participation is essential to ensure the programme achieves its objectives.

Education experts have welcomed the move, describing it as a positive step towards improving English language teaching in public schools.

The experts said that better-trained teachers could help students develop stronger communication and language skills, potentially improving learning outcomes in classrooms across the province.

The initiative will provide guidance to those teachers who are looking forward to enhancing their abilities and maintaining the quality of education and professional development opportunities in Punjab’s government school system.
