Supreme Court rules in favour of Imran khan in OM defamation case

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has restored the right of defence of PTI founder Imran Khan in the Rs10 billion defamation case filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to details, a major legal development took place in the case after the court accepted Imran Khan’s review petition.

The Supreme Court overturned earlier decisions of the trial court and the High Court that had removed his right of defence.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court gave the verdict with a 2-1 majority. Justice Ayesha Malik headed the bench and announced a short order in court.

With the decision, Imran Khan’s right of defence has been fully restored. The case has now been sent back to the trial court for fresh proceedings.

The trial court will now allow him to continue his legal defence in the case.
