The popular global social networking Meta services Facebook, Threads and Instagram are facing disruptions on Friday and have been affected across the world, including Pakistan, causing problems for users.
According to users, they are facing problems sending messages and posting on Meta’s sub-platform, Facebook. They also report issues while using Instagram and Threads.
Downdetector
Earlier today, the popular outage tracking website Downdetector reported a sharp rise in complaints from users who were unable to access Facebook on both the web and mobile app.
Many users also reported problems with Instagram and the WhatsApp desktop service.
Users of Threads faced similar issues. Some users complained that they were unable to log in. While other users experienced slow loading times and connection errors.
Several independent outage monitoring websites also recorded a large increase in reports. They suggested that the problem was affecting users in multiple countries rather than a single region.
The high number of complaints may indicate that the disruption was widespread. Some reports suggest that the problem could likely be caused by a technical issue affecting Meta’s platforms.
As of the latest updates, Meta had not shared the reason behind the outage. The company had also not announced when all services would be fully restored.
Netizens frustrated
Frustrated users quickly turned to Downdetector’s comment section to share their experiences.
One of the users said that they were met with a “Blank page.” Another user shared their experience saying that they had been “logged out of my account out of nowhere” and unable to sign back in.”
The disruption seemed to affect more than just Instagram. Several users on X said they had been logged out of Facebook and Messenger and received error messages when trying to log back in.
“Anybody else just been logged out of Facebook Messenger and can’t log back in? Unknown error,” one user posted. Similar complaints were shared by many other users.
