Remote Sindh gain better sanitation through 5,000 toilet initiative

A major sanitation initiative has transformed living conditions in remote parts of Sindh, with 5,000 toilets constructed across seven districts, according to media reports.

The lack of toilet facilities has long been a challenge for rural communities, particularly in underdeveloped areas where residents often face difficulties due to poor sanitation and limited access to private, hygienic facilities.

The project aims to address these longstanding issues by improving sanitation standards and providing safer, more dignified living conditions for local communities, especially women, children, and the elderly.

Recognising this need, a welfare organisation launched a project to build permanent toilets in Goth Ratkot, located in Larkana district. The initiative brought great relief to the local community.

Following its success, the organisation expanded the toilet construction project to other underdeveloped areas, eventually covering seven districts of Sindh. To date, more than 5,000 toilets have been constructed.

Residents stated that the new facilities have greatly improved daily life, particularly for women, elderly people, and children. They also report a significant improvement in sanitation and public hygiene in their communities.
