Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) has announced its summer vacation schedule, with all academic activities set to remain suspended from July 6 to August 30, 2026.
The university administration advised students to regularly check the official university website for updates regarding the academic calendar, examinations, hostel operations, and other important announcements.
University exams rescheduled
In a separate notification issued by the Directorate of Academics on June 17, 2026, QAU announced the rescheduling of terminal examinations held on June 17.
According to the notification, students who were unable to appear in their examinations due to circumstances affecting access to the university will be given another opportunity to take their exams.
The university directed all teaching departments to make necessary arrangements for the affected students. Revised examination schedules will be announced by the respective departments.
The notification stated that the decision was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and aims to ensure that no student is disadvantaged due to difficulties in reaching the campus.
Quaid-e-Azam University reduces hostel fee by 50%
Quaid-e-Azam University has also announced a 50 per cent reduction in hostel fees for the Summer Semester 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Treasurer’s Office, the revised fee structure has been introduced on the directions of the Vice-Chancellor and will be applicable throughout the summer semester.
Under the revised rates, local students will pay Rs4,000 per month instead of the previous fee, while the weekly hostel fee has been reduced to Rs1,000. Students staying for the complete approved hostel period of approximately two months will pay Rs8,000.
For foreign students, the monthly hostel fee has been reduced to US$20, while the weekly fee has been fixed at US$5. The fee for the complete approved period has been set at US$40.
University officials said the concession has been granted to facilitate students residing in university hostels during the summer semester. The notification has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and is subject to endorsement by the relevant university committees.
Earlier, the University of Sindh announced the schedule for the summer vacations. The campus will remain closed from June 1 to July 31.
According to the official notification issued by the university, all of the institutes and departments will remain closed for two months.
The classes will be resumed from August 3, 2026, after the completion of the vacation period.
The notice also states that all of the directors and chairpersons shall remain present in the office twice a week, i.e., Monday and Tuesday from 09:00am to 01:00pm during the vacation period.
According to the notification, the Pro Vice Chancellors, Dean of Faculties, administrative officials, and other assisting staff members will perform their duties regularly even during the break.
