SC moves to digital era with online court fee payments

The Supreme Court (SC) has taken a major step toward judicial modernisation by introducing a digital payment system for court fees. In this regard, a tripartite agreement has been signed between the Supreme Court, the State Bank of Pakistan and OneLink.

The initiative marks a significant milestone in the promotion of digital payments within the judicial system. Under the new mechanism, lawyers and litigants will be able to pay court fees through online channels, eliminating the need for the traditional legal fee stamp system.

The move is expected to make court fee payments faster, more convenient and more transparent, while supporting broader efforts to digitise judicial services and improve public access to justice. The initiative represents another step toward modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly reforms in the Supreme Court.

According to experts, the new system is expected to significantly reduce paperwork and administrative burdens.  Digital payments will improve access to court services for the public, they view.

The State Bank of Pakistan and OneLink are collaborating to modernise court administration.   The digital payment system will enhance transparency and accountability.  The new facility will provide litigants with a convenient way to pay court fees. This is an important step toward promoting digital governance. The agreement represents a historic development in judicial reform, encouraging innovation, efficiency, and convenience.
