The federal energy minister, Sardar Awais Leghari, announced that there will be no loadshedding on Muharram 9 and 10. Sardar Awais Leghari instructed all the relevant departments and authorities to provide electricity on Muharram 9 and 10.
The federal energy minister also warned the relevant authorities of strict action if any negligence were to happen in providing electricity on Muharram 9 and 10.
Sardar Awais Leghari also issued strict codes of conduct to all the power provider companies for the continuous provision of electricity across the country.
The federal energy minister also directed all the power provider companies to provide continuous electricity on the routes of Muharram gatherings across Pakistan.
He also ordered to complete all the maintenance work regarding transformers and hanging wires on the routes of Muharram Gathering and even in Imambarghas before Muharram 7.
Sardar Awais Leghari announced no holidays for the employees of power distribution companies during Muharram days.

Earlier, the Federal Energy Minister of Pakistan, Awais Leghari, clarified on Sunday that the government is not ending electricity subsidies for protected consumers.

He said that the reports claiming that the subsidy is being taken away are not correct. According to him, eligible consumers will continue to receive relief. He added that the new system is to make sure that subsidies reach those who deserve them.
The minister said that the number of protected consumers has increased from 9.5 million to 21.5 million over the past four years.
He added that around 29.57 million domestic consumers are currently receiving some form of electricity subsidy. These show 86 per cent of all household consumers.
