Karachi’s weather turns pleasant after rain

Rain likely again in Lahore as intense heat persists in Karachi

Light rain in various parts of Karachi brought pleasant weather conditions to the city late at night.

Drizzle was reported in several areas, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Rashid Minhas Road, and North Karachi, providing relief from the recent heat.

Meanwhile, strong winds followed by rain in different parts of Lahore caused disruptions to flight arrivals and departures, creating difficulties for air travellers.

In Pattoki and Faisalabad, heavy rain led to the collapse of a house roof, leaving five people injured.

Rain was also reported in several other cities across Punjab, helping to ease the intensity of the ongoing heatwave and bringing cooler temperatures to the region.

Met office forecasts thunderstorms, heavy rain in several regions

The Meteorological Department has predicted a significant change in weather conditions across various parts of the country over the next 12 hours, particularly during the night.

According to the forecast, rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and possible hail is expected in several regions. Citizens have been advised to stay updated on weather developments and take necessary precautions, especially during periods of severe weather.

The weather system is likely to bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat in affected areas, while authorities continue to monitor the situation.

According to the department, rain accompanied by strong winds, gusts, and thunderstorms is expected at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Islamabad, Upper Sindh, and northern and northeastern Balochistan. Hailstorms may also occur in some areas.

The report further states that very heavy rainfall is likely in parts of northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab, which may lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas and cause local disruptions.

The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to remain cautious during this period, particularly by avoiding unnecessary travel during strong winds, thunderstorms, and hailstorms to prevent any potential accidents.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather is expected to persist in other parts of the country, with temperatures likely to remain above normal. The department added that this change in weather is expected to be temporary; however, citizens are encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather conditions and take necessary precautions to carry out their daily activities safely.
