According to the security sources, Ziauddin’s killing is a major blow to the ISIS Khorasan network.
As per the security sources, the operation was carried out based on intelligence information, and Ziauddin was killed in an exchange of fire.
According to the security sources, Ziauddin was involved in the murders of PTI leader Rehan Zeb and ANP’s Maulana Khan Zeb.
Giving details of the incident, security sources said that Ziauddin was imprisoned in an Afghan jail before the Taliban took over Kabul, but was released after the Taliban came to power.
After his release, Ziauddin became involved in militancy again and entered Pakistan from Afghanistan in 2023.
Killing of Independent Candidate Rehan Zeb Khan
Rehan Zeb Khan was shot dead on January 31, 2024, in the Siddiqabad area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, police said.
According to Khar Police Station House Officer (SHO) Rasheed Khan, Rehan Zeb was canvassing in the area when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle.
He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The SHO added that four other people were also wounded in the attack.
ANP Leader Maulana Khan Zeb and Policeman Killed
Awami National Party (ANP) leader Maulana Khan Zeb and a police officer were gunned down on July 10, 2025, by unidentified assailants in Bajaur district, according to police reports.
“Three other people were injured in the shooting,” DPO Rafiq said, reports Dawn. “This was a targeted killing carried out by unidentified shooters on motorcycles,” he added.
