Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and MPA got elected as Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) unopposed after the GB assembly members took the oath.
On the other hand, PPP’s Imran Nadeem Shigri and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N’s) Malik Kifayatur Rehman were elected as the speaker and deputy speaker, respectively, of the GB assembly.
After getting elected as speaker of the GB assembly, PPP’s Shigri announced in the assembly to submit the nomination papers. After a few hours, Shigri announced the name of Amjad Hussain as CM of Gilgit Baltistan.
It is pertinent to mention that PPP’s Amjad Hussain was the only candidate who submitted the nomination papers for the position of CM Gilgit Baltistan.
As this happened, the GB assembly speaker announced PML-N’s Hafeezur Rehman as the opposition leader.
