PRA office hours

To achieve the revenue collection target before the end of the current fiscal year the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has taken a big step by cancelling weekend holidays of all its employees and substantially increasing the working hours of the offices.

The details said this was decided on special instructions of the Chairman of PRA (Muazzam Iqbal Sapra) and a formal notification has been issued on this matter.

The initiative is designed to speed up collection efforts in the last days of the fiscal year and to enable the authority to reach its revenue targets in full.

The updated process will be in place at the headquarters and at the authority’s offices across Punjab, the PRA spokesperson said.

All officers and staff will be mandated to work overtime until June 30, according to the new schedule.

According to the notification, PRA offices will continue to be open every day from 9:00am till 9:00pm without any breaks.

Also, the customary days of the holidays have been cancelled, and employees will work on the remaining days of the fiscal year.

The spokesperson highlighted that the order was made keeping in mind the need to maximise the recovery of taxes and efficiency of the revenue collection operations.

The authority feels the increased working hours and non-stop working in the office will help in facilitating taxpayers, expediting pending assessments and recoveries, and assist in achieving the set revenue targets.

These extraordinary measures have been designed to make collection more robust and enable the PRA to achieve the targets for the fiscal year by June 30, the PRA has said.
