The fastest bowler in the world, Shoaib Akhtar, announced the death of his elder brother on June 23.

In his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said that I am very saddened to share that my beloved older brother, Shahid Akhtar, has returned to Allah Subhana wa Taala.

He prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the departed and asked supporters to remember him in their prayers.

Following the announcement, fans, former players and members of Pakistan’s sporting community expressed their condolences to the family and paid tribute to the deceased.

According to the family, Shahid Akhtar’s funeral prayers will be offered after Asar prayers on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the H-8 Graveyard in Islamabad.

Family members, relatives, friends and people from various walks of life are expected to attend the funeral.

Messages of sympathy continued to pour in on social media, with many expressing support for Shoaib Akhtar and his family during this hard time.

Police arrest main suspect in Muntaha rape case, Sargodha

Sargodha Police have arrested the main suspect and the rapist in the 7-year-old Muntaha rape case.

As per the police officials, Arsalan, along with the other three culprits, was arrested by the police on Tuesday, June 23.

The police officials have confirmed that Arsalan had admitted that he raped the 7-year-old and killed her after that.

They also added that the DNA results have matched with the prime suspect in the case.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Arsalan, who was a worker at the general store, along with the shop owner and two others, raped Muntaha and killed her by striking her with a knife.

The criminals have been charged with the act of murder in the FIR.

The police, along with the Crime Control Department (CCD), were looking into this case.

The District Police Officer (DPO), Sargodha, Sohail Ashraf, told the media that a fifth suspect has also been taken into custody.

The Civil Court judge, Imran Farooq, has granted a six-day physical remand of the main suspect.
