Pakistan, on Thursday recorded a 5-0 win against South Korea in the Asia Pacific Padel Cup 2026 opener in Manila, Philippines.
The country secured a winning streak across men’s, women’s and mixed categories.
During the opener against South Korea, Huzaifa Abdul Rehamn and Huzaima Abdul Rehman successfully defeated HongBeom Min and Sangho Park in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
On the other hand, Sheeza Sajid and Asfa Shahbaz dominated the Pakistan women’s team matches.
They delivered a strong performance against Jieun Yang and Jeehee Park 6-1, 6-1.
As the tournament progressed, Muhammad Aamil Asif and Farhan Mustafa carried the Pakistan team against opponents Woojae and Hunhee 6-0, 6-3 in straight sets.
The tie was finally sealed in mixed matches. Jiwon and Hakyung suffered losses against Pakistan’s Aqsa and Muhammad Aamil Asif. They secured 6-0, 6-3 wins.
Huzaima Abdul Rehman along with Meheq then finalised the whitewash with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Korean opponents, Junhyeok and Yerim.
Now, Pakistan stands strong in Group A along with India and Thailand. The country is expected to have a good chance at an early advantage for the upcoming knockout stages of the Asia Pacific Padel Cup 2026.
PCB to send players to the US for training programme
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced its plans to send a group of cricketers to the United States (US) for a four-month development programme focused on power-hitting, fitness, and rehabilitation.
The initiative aims to improve skills through modern training and exposure to a high-performance environment.
It is expected to give players exposure to modern training techniques and a different sporting environment as part of their long-term development.
White-ball coach Mike Hesson also shared that the programme hopes to expand the experience of players. It may introduce them to new methods of preparation and performance.
