Commercial banks across Pakistan will keep selected branches open for longer hours until June 30 to help taxpayers pay government duties and taxes before the close of the fiscal year.
The extended schedule comes after a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), with the State Bank of Pakistan directing commercial banks and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs collections to provide additional banking hours for both over the counter and digital payments.
Branches that normally operate on Saturdays will remain open from 9am to 5pm on June 27. On Monday, June 29, participating branches will stay open until 8pm, while on Tuesday, June 30, they will continue serving customers until 10pm.
NBP branches dealing with customs collections will remain open even longer on June 30 and continue operations until 11:59pm to process payments before the deadline.
Digital banking services to remain available
Banks have also been asked to keep branches open beyond the announced timings if needed to complete special clearing of government transactions through the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).
In addition to longer branch hours, banks must ensure that internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs and other digital payment channels remain fully operational throughout the period. The move is aimed at allowing taxpayers to pay government duties and taxes without disruption, whether they choose to visit a branch or pay online.
Separately, the State Bank of Pakistan has announced that July 1, 2026, will be observed as a Bank Holiday. All banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will remain closed for public dealing on the day.
