Pakistani singer Bilal Saeed has denied social media claims that he and fellow singer Aima Baig were under the influence of alcohol in a viral video filmed in London.
Bilal Saeed and Aima Baig are currently in London shooting a new project. A video showing the two singers meeting fans and taking selfies on the streets of the city recently spread widely across social media.
After the clip went viral, some social media users criticised Aima Baig’s outfit, while others claimed that both singers appeared to be intoxicated.
Bilal responded to the rumours in a video message shared on social media, calling the allegations false.
“We were shooting in London yesterday, and a video from the set went viral. People started saying we were intoxicated,” he said.
He asked people to watch the video carefully, saying that he and Aima were holding coffee cups, not alcoholic drinks.
“If other people around us were drinking alcohol, does that mean we were drinking too? Did anyone see me vomiting or acting like I was intoxicated?” Bilal said.
The singer also responded to people questioning his patriotism.
“Don’t tell us how to represent Pakistan. We have proudly represented our country through our music for many years, and we will continue to do so,” he said.
Bilal’s response drew mixed reactions online. While many users accepted his clarification and supported him, others continued to debate the viral video on social media.
