How to change your address on CNIC: Step-by-step guide

CNIC NADRA age modification

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has outlined a simple process for citizens to update the address on their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). The authority released a video guide explaining the step-by-step procedure for changing both permanent and current addresses.

According to NADRA, tenants living in rented accommodation can also update their address by submitting a copy of the rent agreement and a recent electricity bill. Those wishing to register a rented property as their permanent address must additionally provide a landlord’s affidavit, confirming that the owner has no objection to the property being used as the tenant’s permanent address.

For homeowners, the process is even simpler. Applicants only need to present the original ownership documents of their property at a NADRA registration centre. Officials will scan the documents and return them immediately, removing the need to submit photocopies.

How much it costs to change your age on CNIC in 2026?

The NADRA allows citizens to request corrections and age modifications to their date of birth on national identity cards (CNIC), subject to verification and a fee structure.

The applicants who are seeking an age modification must provide valid documentary proof such as birth certificate or some other kind of official records.

Requests for age modifications can be submitted at NADRA Registration Centres (NRCs) throughout Pakistan. For citizens who are living abroad they can apply through Pakistan embassies and via the Pak ID application.

The NADRA fees will depend upon the duration of the requested change and whether the applicant is based overseas or in Pakistan.
