Jamie Smith’s 60 runs were not enough to save the hosts from defeat. Ben Duckett scored 36 runs, and captain Ben Stokes was also dismissed after making 36 runs. Zeb took three wickets for New Zealand, while Nathan Smith and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each.

Ben Stokes retired at the end of the match against New Zealand. The all-rounder represented England in 122 Test matches, 114 ODIs, and 43 T20Is.

Stokes was an important member of England’s 2019 World Cup-winning team and the 2022 T20 World Cup-winning squad, delivering memorable performances in both finals. He represented England in international cricket for 15 years.

It is worth mentioning here that England Test captain Ben Stokes has announced his retirement from international cricket, with the ongoing Test against New Zealand in Nottingham set to be the final match of his career.

According to a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Stokes informed his teammates of his decision before the start of play today.
