K-Electric (KE) has released loadshedding schedule for various areas of Karachi under the government’s National Power Policy as heat intensifies in metropolis.
According to K-Electric, the schedule applies only to feeders categorised as high-loss due to electricity theft and non-payment of bills. KE said the duration of loadshedding varies from feeder to feeder and is determined after periodic assessments of transmission and distribution losses.
The utility has published a feeder-wise timetable covering multiple localities across Karachi, with outages scheduled in four daily cycles. KE said that the timings are tentative and may vary slightly depending on operational requirements.
The company advised consumers to identify their respective feeder through the KE Live mobile application by selecting the “Power” tab or by contacting its customer care helpline at 118.
KE clarified that, in addition to scheduled outages, some areas may also experience unscheduled interruptions due to localised faults in power distribution infrastructure, including feeders and pole-mounted transformers (PMTs). It said maintenance teams remain available around the clock to address such issues.
The utility reiterated that the loadshedding policy is implemented in line with the federal government’s National Power Policy and is based on feeder-level loss profiles, which are reviewed periodically to determine whether an area falls under the high-loss or low-loss category.

On the other hand, the government of Pakistan introduced a new electricity bill format across the country. The authorities said that a major change will be made to make billing information easier for consumers to read and understand.
According to officials, the redesigned bill has been developed with a focus on simplicity, transparency and a better user experience, following longstanding complaints from consumers about the complexity of the previous format.
Many electricity users had argued that existing bills contained excessive information, technical terminology and a cluttered layout, making it difficult to identify key details such as charges, consumption and payment deadlines.
Under the new design, essential information, including the total amount payable, payment due date and electricity consumption, is displayed more prominently.
Authorities say the changes will allow consumers to quickly access the most important billing information without having to navigate through multiple sections.
The updated bills also feature a QR code, enabling users to access additional information and digital services through their mobile devices.
Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve transparency and make public services more accessible, with the redesigned format expected to enhance consumer understanding of electricity charges and usage.
The new billing format has now been rolled out nationwide and will be used by electricity consumers across Pakistan.
