Driving license issuance has been speeded up in Punjab after instructions from the DIG Traffic. Traffic Police said that over 554,000 driving licenses were issued province wide last month.
According to official statistics, more than 178,000 citizens have been issued with a Learner’s license and more than 180,000 with a regular driving license. More than 190,000 people renewed their learner’s or regular licenses and 1,570 citizens got duplicate licenses after they reported their loss.
Over 3,000 IDPs were issued, and more than 86,000 applicants availed of online licensing services, the spokesperson added.
Muhammad Waqas Nazir, DIG Traffic Punjab, said that driving without a driving license is a legal violation and violators will be meted out heavy punishment and stringent legal action. He pointed out that the rise in trained drivers has helped to reduce the number of road accidents in Punjab.
He also said the Traffic Police is continuing to carry out public awareness campaigns on the need to get a driving license and noted that the e-driving license is as valid as the physical driving license card.
How to renew driving license by using your phone?

According to the details, the Punjab government took an initiative to facilitate the citizens, as the residents of Punjab can renew their regular driving licenses by using the “Dastak” app on their smartphones.
After this initiative, the residents of Punjab will no longer need to visit driving license centres as they can renew their licenses by sitting at home.
After this initiative by the Punjab government, the entire process to renew the driving license is online. The residents of Punjab can renew their driving licenses by uploading their documents and paying the required fee online through the “Dastak” app.

Front and back photo of the original identity card
Front and back copies of the driving license and medical certificate.
If the applicant is above 50 years of age, then it is mandatory to upload a medical certificate attested by a government doctor.
