The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday officially appointed Babar Azam as Test team captain as PCB unveiled Test squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies and England.
Pakistan will play a two-match Test series against the West Indies before travelling to England for a three-match Test series.
Earlier, Shan Masood was the captain of the Test team. However, Pakistan lost the Test series at home and in Dhaka against Bangladesh under his leadership.
Pakistan announce squad for West Indies, England Test tours
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England.
Pakistan will begin their campaign with a two-match Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. The opening Test is scheduled from July 25 to 29, while the second Test will be played from August 2 to 6.
Following the Caribbean tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-match Test series. The first Test will be held at Headingley, Leeds, from August 19 to 23, followed by the second Test at Lord’s, London, from August 27 to 31. The third and final Test will take place at Edgbaston, Birmingham, beginning on September 9.

Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Shan Masood, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Imam-ul-Haq, Sajid Khan, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Aamir Jamal, Ubaid Shah, Azan Awais, Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Muhammad Awais Zafar, and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (wicketkeeper).
Babar Azam records highest ODI average
Babar Azam has recently achieved another milestone in One Day International (ODI) cricket after recording the highest batting average against Australia. This was among players who have scored at least 500 ODI runs against the team.
The 31-year-old reached the record after playing an important role in Pakistan’s win over Australia in the first ODI. He scored a steady half century and also helped guide the team during the innings.
Babar has now scored 755 runs in 14 ODIs against Australia at an average of 68.63. This was the highest among players with at least 500 ODI runs against the six-time world champions.
Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers is second on the list with 1,250 runs in 26 ODIs at an average of 59.52.
