For the second time since the PSL 11’s triumph, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has voiced his support for Babar Azam, describing the batsman as a consistent player with a great character and spirit.
Afridi was approached by one of the followers asking him regarding why he is still placing his faith in Babar Azam after so many performance issues.
The Zalmi chief, in reply explained his faith is due to Babar Azam’s ability to get the better of the opponent and his dedication to the sport, saying that he is a player who faces challenges head-on, every time.
Afridi said he had complete faith in Babar because he was “a true fighter, classy, consistent and a man who loves Pakistan without any doubt with all his heart.
Now, reflecting on Babar’s relationship with Peshawar Zalmi, Afridi said he was amazed by the work ethic of the batter in the first few games.
He had pointed out that Babar is always seen as a player who is able to perform when it matters the most, who has been working hard and dedicated to his cause.
Afridi also added Babar had repeatedly proved his worth in the performances for his team and the country.
He admitted that all cricketers have ups and downs but made it clear that Babar has the mentality of a true champ.
“He’s delivered again and again for the team and the country. Sure, there are ups and downs in cricket, but Babar has that champion mindset. He always comes back stronger,” Afridi added.
Babar was a major contributor all tournament, with PSL 11’s big run scorer. His most outstanding performance was against Islamabad United in the qualification round when his scintillating 103-run score helped Zalmi qualify for the final.
