Xiaomi is preparing to discontinue its Civi smartphone lineup, marking the possible end of a series that has been part of the company’s portfolio for nearly five years. However, the company has not officially announced the decision.
The latest report came from a reliable industry source on China’s Weibo platform. Responding to a user’s question, it stated that Xiaomi had shut down the Civi lineup and that there were no plans to revive it for the next generation. Since Xiaomi has not confirmed the claim, the report should still be regarded as speculation rather than an official company decision.
Earlier reports indicated that Xiaomi had cancelled the device because the previous model failed to achieve strong sales. However, later leaks suggested development had resumed, which included specifications like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 200-megapixel main camera, remappable AI button, 6.59-inch quad-curved display, a 50-megapixel selfie camera, a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom, dual stereo speakers, a premium metal frame and a glass rear panel. None of these features were ever officially confirmed by Xiaomi.
According to the latest claim, Xiaomi has now abandoned the entire Civi lineup rather than simply skipping one generation. This way the expected Civi 6 will never reach the market.
Moreover, Xiaomi originally introduced the Civi series in China in September 2021. The smartphones were designed primarily for younger consumers. These smartphones were designed slim, stylish appearances, strong selfie cameras and photography-focused features. Xiaomi released several models, including the Civi 1S, Civi 2, Civi 3, Civi 4 Pro and Civi 5 Pro.
Further, the company also expanded the lineup internationally by launching the Civi 4 Pro. Reports suggested the Civi 5 Pro might receive a similar global release under the Xiaomi 15 Civi branding, but never happened. However, Xiaomi may instead strengthen its T-series lineup, which already offers processors, Leica camera systems and large batteries.
