The Punjab government has announced financial support for eligible families receiving farmland under its Apna Khet Apna Rozgar scheme, with beneficiaries set to receive Rs250,000 if they are allotted five acres of land.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government would provide Rs50,000 per acre to help families begin cultivation on the land allocated to them.
Speaking at a ceremony, she said the ballot for the scheme had been conducted on a 100% merit basis, adding that the beneficiaries included some of the province’s most deserving families.
Under the programme, 30,000 successful applicants have each been allotted five acres of cultivable government land on a 20-year free lease.
Maryam Nawaz said that the government would also provide technical assistance to help beneficiaries cultivate their land and improve agricultural production.
She added that the scheme is aimed at empowering farmers across different regions of Punjab, including Thal, Potohar, southern Punjab and central Punjab.
The chief minister also directed the Agriculture Department to identify more cultivable land so that additional families could benefit from the programme while increasing the province’s agricultural output.
She congratulated the successful applicants and said the initiative was intended to improve livelihoods by providing land, financial assistance and farming support to eligible families.
