The Pakistan Test squad has kicked off its preparations for the upcoming Two-Test series against the West Indies with an intensive pre-series training camp at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Under the watchful eyes of the coaching staff, the national players are fine-tuning their skills and building momentum ahead of the crucial ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 assignments.
The national Test squad took part in a training session that lasted approximately three hours. During the session, head coach Sarfraz Ahmed, batting coach Asad Shafiq, and bowling coach Umar Gul supervised a variety of batting, bowling, and fielding drills to ensure the players are fully prepared for the series.
All members of the squad, including captain Babar Azam, participated in an extended net session on the practice wickets. The batters focused on refining their techniques, while the bowlers worked on different plans and strategies.
As part of the camp, the Pakistan Test team will also play two-day intra-squad scenario matches on Friday and Saturday. These matches are designed to assess the players’ readiness in match-like conditions and identify any areas that need improvement before the series.
The two-Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies will be played from July 25 to August 10 as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27. The first Test is scheduled to be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, while the second Test will be played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Pakistan will be aiming for a strong start to its World Test Championship campaign, with the series against the West Indies carrying significant importance in the race for valuable championship points.
It is worth mentioning here that the Pakistan cricket team’s Two-Test tour of the West Indies has officially been confirmed, with preparations set to begin this week.
As part of the build-up to the ICC World Test Championship series, the national side will hold a five-day training camp at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from July 9 to 12 before departing for the Caribbean.
The Test squad and team management will report to Islamabad on July 8 before departing for the West Indies on July 13.
The first Test will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy from July 25 to 29, while the second and final Test will take place at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain from August 2 to 6. Both matches will be part of the ICC World Test Championship.
Following the West Indies tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-Test series, according to the schedule released by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Meanwhile, recent reports have revealed the possible dates for the 2027 Asia Cup.
According to recent reports, Babar Azam has been appointed captain of Pakistan’s Test team for the upcoming series against the West Indies and England.
