For the first time in Commonwealth Games history, the opening ceremony on 23 July will take place in an indoor arena, The Hydro, instead of a traditional outdoor stadium.

The ceremony will mark the vibrant beginning of the 11-day international sporting event, aiming to provide fans with a captivating and electrifying experience. The show will celebrate Glasgow’s unique story, culture, and spirit.

The ceremony will be directed by Roxana Cole, with choreography by Emily Jane Boyle and costume design by Carol Miller. The entire production will be overseen by Glasgow 2026 Chief of Ceremonies, Louisa Mahon.
