Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been sidelined for four weeks after suffering hamstring and knee injuries.
According to the team management, the left-arm pacer will miss the remaining matches of the ongoing series against Zimbabwe as he continues his recovery and rehabilitation process. The management added that the fast bowler’s rehabilitation process will continue during this period.
It is worth mentioning that Bangladesh are scheduled to tour Australia for a two-Test series in August following their Zimbabwe series.
Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the remainder of Zimbabwe’s tour of Bangladesh and has returned home to begin his rehabilitation after suffering hamstring and knee injuries.
The 29-year-old pacer will miss the remaining fixtures of the tour, including the upcoming three-match T20 International series, as he focuses on his recovery.
This marks the second injury setback for Mustafizur in 2026. Earlier this year, knee issues affected his availability during Bangladesh’s ODI series against New Zealand in April, forcing him to sit out the opening two matches before making a comeback in the third ODI, where he claimed a five-wicket haul.
Bangladesh will complete their Zimbabwe tour on July 19 before shifting focus to their upcoming two-Test series in Australia, beginning on August 13. Both matches are part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
Australia’s men last toured Bangladesh in August 2021, when they played a five-match T20I series and suffered a 4-1 defeat. The series was remembered for Nathan Ellis’ hat-trick on debut, as well as a broadcasting dispute between Bangladesh cricket’s rights holders and Australian broadcasters, which resulted in the matches being unavailable to viewers in Australia.
However, there will be no such issues this time around. The Foxtel Group has secured a new agreement with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), ensuring that Australia’s upcoming matches in Bangladesh will be broadcast live on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports.
