Mohammad Amir joins Trent Rockets for The Hundred 2026

Former fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been included in the Trent Rockets squad for The Hundred 2026.

The franchise announced on social media that Amir will replace English fast bowler David Payne, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. In a statement, the Trent Rockets wished David Payne a speedy recovery.

Mohammad Amir also expressed his excitement about joining the Trent Rockets, sharing a short message on the social media platform X.

The sixth edition of The Hundred is set to begin on July 21, with eight teams battling it out across 68 matches for the coveted title. As the tournament draws closer, franchises are making last-minute changes to their squads to cover for injured players.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has now been drafted into the Trent Rockets squad for the 2026 season. The experienced left-arm pacer joins the side as a replacement for England seamer David Payne, who has been ruled out after undergoing ankle surgery.

He will replace David Payne, who continues his recovery from an ankle injury. We wish David all the best in his recovery. The signing marks Amir’s fourth stint in The Hundred. He has previously represented London Spirit, Oval Invincibles (now MI London), and Northern Superchargers (now Sun-risers Leeds), adding further experience to the Rockets’ pace attack.

Amir was not originally expected to feature in this year’s competition. However, Payne’s injury created an opening, allowing the former Pakistan international to secure a place in the squad ahead of the tournament.

Trent Rockets have also been hit by another injury concern, with New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry unlikely to be available for the upcoming season. Although Amir’s move had been widely reported in recent days, there was initial uncertainty over which player he would replace before the franchise officially confirmed that he would take Payne’s place.
