Heavy rain expected tonight in several areas; Public urged to take precautions

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of the country tonight and has advised citizens to take precautionary measures. Heavy rain is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while showers have also been predicted in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Peshawar.

The department has urged residents to remain cautious as the heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding, water accumulation in low-lying areas, and disruptions to daily travel.

There is also a risk of landslides in Murree, Galiyat, and the mountainous areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) due to heavy rainfall. The department has directed citizens and relevant authorities to take necessary precautionary measures and make advance preparations to deal with any possible situation.

The Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in various parts of the country until July 13, with chances of thunderstorms in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy rainfall is also expected in some areas.

According to the department, rain is likely in upper Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, and northern areas. Thunderstorms have been forecast in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum, while rainfall is also expected in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, and Hafizabad.

Rain has also been predicted in Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, and Bhakkar. Heavy rainfall is expected in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan. Rain is also likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms has been forecast in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Besides Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, and Hangu, rainfall is also expected in Swat, Dir, Chitral, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

The Meteorological Department said that intermittent rainfall is expected in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from July 11 to 13. Rain has been forecast in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Poonch, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber, while thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit, Skardu, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Ghanche, Shigar, Nagar, and Hunza.

Thunderstorms are also expected in northeastern districts of Balochistan. Rainfall is likely in Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, and Ziarat.
