Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday, during which the two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments.
Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s call for all parties to exercise maximum restraint and provide sufficient time and space for ongoing mediation efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and meaningful resolution.
The two leaders voiced serious concern over the recent escalation of tensions, despite the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran last month.
They emphasized that the resurgence of hostilities serves the interests of no party and risks undermining ongoing efforts to promote regional peace, security, and stability.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s appeal to all sides to demonstrate the utmost restraint, avoid further escalation, and provide sufficient time and space for diplomatic and mediation efforts to succeed in achieving a peaceful and constructive resolution.
The Saudi Foreign Minister briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on the Kingdom’s assessment of the current diplomatic initiatives, stressing the need for de-escalation, sustained engagement, and the continuation of dialogue to resolve differences.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and remain in regular contact as the situation develops.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar also held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Iruthisham Adam.
During the discussion, Senator Ishaq Dar conveyed his warm felicitations to Dr. Iruthisham Adam on the upcoming 61st anniversary of the Maldives’ independence.
The two Foreign Ministers exchanged views on regional and global developments and discussed matters of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their shared resolve to further deepen the longstanding ties of friendship, cooperation, and partnership between Pakistan and the Maldives.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and remain in regular contact on issues of common concern. The Maldivian Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating efforts aimed at mediating the Iran–US conflict.
