‘I find it ridiculous’, Sahar Hashmi responds to Emraan Hashmi comparisons

Sahar Hashmi responds to Emraan Hashmi

TV actress Sahar Hashmi responds to Emraan Hashmi comparisons on social media, that emerged following her recent dramas.

The comparisons began from scenes in which her character hugged the male lead, sparking debate online despite such moments being part of the script and her role as an actor.

Reacting to this, Sahar Hashmi responded by saying, “I find it ridiculous. I will be very honest, I am not the first actor, not the last actor who has hugged somebody on screen.”

She added that “those moments were required by the script, and her director told her to perform them with conviction or not do them at all.”

“I get that it is not accepted by many in our culture, but hugging someone of the opposite gender is something that happens. In some parts of Pakistan it might be uncommon, but in others it is not,” she said.

The actress also urged social media users not to single her out, saying that similar scenes are now common in many dramas. She added that she will be more conscious going forward following the criticism.

Sahar further revealed that the online backlash caused her emotional distress.

In this interview, she was also asked about her experience working with Danyal Zafar and Sajal Ali.

The actress said that she had an okay experience with Danyal, while she had a good time with Sajal, adding that she would love to work with her again since there were not many scenes of them together in the drama Zanjeerain.

Sahar Hashmi also revealed that she initially rejected Zanjeerain because of her mother’s recent death.

Hashmi has starred alongside Pakistan’s leading actors in hit dramas such as Zulm, Ishq Hua, and Mann Mast Malang, as well as telefilms including Deewani and Zanjeerain, which is currently on air.

She will next be seen in Dar-e-Nijaat, alongside Sheheryar Munawar, Dur-e-Fishan Saleem, Nameer Khan and Nadia Afghan. The drama is set to premiere soon.
