The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across the country’s northern regions including Murree, Galiyat, Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Authorities have warned of a high risk of landslides and flash flooding in rain-fed rivers and streams due to the expected downpours. Residents and travelers have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas.
The Meteorological Department has also warned that lightning, strong winds and gusts may damage vulnerable infrastructure, including solar panels and electricity poles. Citizens have been advised to stay away from billboards, trees, and weak or unstable structures during the storm.
Meanwhile, a severe heatwave continues to affect the southern parts of the country. Today Sunday, the highest temperature was recorded in Turbat at 49°C, followed by 46°C in Dadu and 45°C in Sibi.
In Karachi, cloudy skies prevailed throughout the day, bringing some relief from the heat and humidity. The Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds and light drizzle in the city.
Most areas of Balochistan continue to experience intense heat. According to the Meteorological Department, Dalbandin and Sibi were among the hottest locations in the province today, with temperatures reaching 47°C.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has released Sunday rainfall data for Lahore. The highest rainfall was recorded in Farrukhabad at 30 mm, followed by 27 mm in Sagian and 23 mm in Paniwala Talab. The Meteorological Department has forecast that rainfall will continue in the city until late tonight.
