DPO Murree issue traffic advisory for tourists

Tourist rush triggers massive traffic jams in Murree

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, DR Raza Tanveer has issued a traffic advisory to the tourists visiting the hill station during the peak tourism season, asking them to avoid getting stuck in the traffic as they will be able to take other routes as well.

The DPO said road carpeting is being done on the Old GT Road to get the road back to normal condition. The renovation work is affecting traffic.

The locals and tourists have been urged to avoid this route and opt for the Murree Expressway or link roads for a safer and easier riding experience.

Dr Raza Tanveer in a special video message stated that Murree Expressway is still the best option to get into the district.

He further stated that the influx of people from all over the country has added to the volume of traffic on the expressway and police have put in place traffic management measures.

The Murree Police have deployed extra force on the crucial alternative routes such as Bustan Mor, Masiari link and Jhika Gali road.

Officers are helping motorists along the road and guiding traffic to and from Murree central and tourist areas, while helping to alleviate congestion on the main highway.

The DPO also advised travellers to verify real-time traffic updates using Google Maps before embarking on their journey and during the trip.

Also, tourists were urged to download the official “Safe Tourism Murree” mobile app, which will give them information on live traffic, weather, parking, and emergency assistance.

The Murree Police reiterated their efforts to support the tourists and ensure their safe, smooth and hassle-free travel during the peak tourism season.
