Murree is experiencing heavy traffic congestion as thousands of tourists flock to the hill station over the weekend, causing long queues of vehicles on the Murree Expressway and other major roads.
The unusually high influx of visitors has led to severe delays on both entry and exit routes, leaving tourists and commuters stranded for extended periods. Authorities expect traffic pressure to increase further as the holiday period continues.
Motorists travelling to or from Murree have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, avoid peak travel hours where possible, and follow traffic police instructions to minimise delays.
Meanwhile, City Traffic Police Murree has intensified its crackdown on motorists driving without valid licences on the directives of DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir.
The operation, carried out under the supervision of CTO Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi, has resulted in hundreds of challans being issued to motorcyclists and other drivers violating traffic laws, while legal action is also being initiated against offenders.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, daily checkpoints and inspections have been increased on major roads and key locations as part of the campaign to curb unlicensed driving.
Officials reminded motorists that driving without a valid licence is a legal offence and urged them to carry their original driving licences at all times.
CTO Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi appealed to the public to strictly follow traffic laws, stating that compliance is essential to ensure the safety of all road users.
The spokesperson added that City Traffic Police Murree will continue its zero-tolerance policy against unlicensed drivers and take strict action against all violators.
