Spain has knocked out France in the very first semi-final match and has secured its place in the final match of the FIFA World Cup (WC) 2026.
Spain defeated France 2-0 in the tournament’s first semi-final and made it to the final of the tournament.
Spain made a strong start and took the lead in the 24th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty. The European side continued to dominate after the break, with Pedro Porro doubling the advantage in the 58th minute.
France pushed for a comeback during the remainder of the match but was unable to break through Spain’s disciplined defence.
The victory sends Spain into its first World Cup final in 16 years. Their previous appearance came in 2010, when they lifted the trophy after defeating the Netherlands in South Africa.
Spain will now face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina, with the two sides set to battle for the remaining place in the World Cup final.

Spain’s victory over France continued their impressive unbeaten run at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the team reaching the final without suffering a defeat.
The Spaniards have won every match in the tournament except for a goalless draw against Cape Verde, producing a series of strong performances on their way to the final.
They will now be aiming to win the World Cup for only the second time in their history, having previously lifted the trophy in 2010.
France, the 2018 world champions, entered the semi-final with an experienced squad and had hoped to return to the final after finishing runners-up at the previous World Cup.
Spain has also enjoyed the upper hand in recent meetings between the two sides. They beat France in the Euro 2024 semi-final and again in the UEFA Nations League semi-final last year, extending their recent dominance over the French side.
Spain will now face either England or Argentina in the World Cup final as they bid to claim football’s biggest prize once again.
