Jamrud Political Alliance announces protest against corruption in development projects

The Jamrud Political Alliance has announced a peaceful protest against alleged corruption in development projects, poor performance of government departments, and the lack of basic public services in the area.

Speaking at a press conference at the Jamrud Press Club, alliance leaders, including Maulana Saeed, Zareef Khan, Siraj, Irfan and Suleman, said the movement was not opposed to any political party or individual but was to safeguard the rights of the people of Jamrud and highlight the area’s pressing issues.

The alliance announced that a peaceful demonstration would be held on Monday at Bab-e-Khyber in Jamrud to protest alleged corruption, substandard development work, administrative inefficiency, and the failure to provide basic facilities to residents.

The leaders said government departments have a responsibility to perform their duties honestly, transparently and in accordance with the law. They urged the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber to ensure effective monitoring of all departments and address public complaints without delay.

They also expressed concern about the quality of several ongoing development projects in Jamrud, noting that residents have raised questions about the standard of work, while many civic issues remain unresolved. The alliance vowed to continue its constitutional and peaceful campaign until the area’s problems are addressed.

The alliance appealed to workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) not to politicise the protest and instead join the movement in support of the people of Jamrud, insisting that the campaign is focused on public welfare rather than political rivalry.

The leaders further said that videos and audio recordings allegedly highlighting corruption and substandard development work are circulating on social media. They called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to take immediate notice of the situation, review the performance of the relevant departments, and ensure that action is taken to resolve the issues.

They warned that if the public’s concerns remain unaddressed, the scope of the protest campaign would be expanded.
