ICC reveals latest ODI rankings with Daryl Mitchell still on top

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its latest ODI player rankings, with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell retaining the No. 1 position among batters.

Mitchell’s lead over India’s Shubman Gill has been cut to just 11 rating points in the latest update. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam remains seventh in the rankings, while Pakistan’s Salman Agha is placed 18th.

In the ODI bowlers’ rankings, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains at the top, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed is ranked second. South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has climbed one place to third, whereas Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi has slipped one position to ninth.

In the T20I batting rankings, India’s Ishan Kishan continues to hold the No. 1 spot, while Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is ranked third.

India’s Shubman Gill has strengthened his hold on the No 2 spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings, reducing the gap to world No. 1 Daryl Mitchell to just 11 rating points.

Gill has 803 rating points, trailing New Zealand’s Mitchell, who leads the rankings with 814 points. The Indian skipper closed the gap after leading his side to a dominant 3-0 ODI series sweep over Afghanistan in his maiden series as captain.

The 25-year-old was the highest run-scorer of the series, amassing 238 runs across three matches to play a key role in India’s clean sweep.

Meanwhile, former India captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remain third and fourth in the ODI batting rankings with 757 and 744 rating points, respectively. Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has dropped to 12th place with 640 rating points.

On the other hand, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan’s warm gesture towards a Pakistani fan has won praise from cricket fans in Pakistan and around the world.

Before the final T20 match against England, Kishan’s friendly interaction with a Pakistani supporter caught widespread attention.

A video of the moment went viral on social media, with fans appreciating the Indian cricketer’s gesture and sportsmanship.

In the video, Kishan noticed a Pakistani fan standing near the boundary line, walked over to him, shook his hand, spent a few moments with him, and exchanged words with the supporter.
