The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has announced a load shedding schedule for different areas due to repair, maintenance, and development work.
According to a notice issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Construction), electricity will remain suspended on July 15, 19, 22, 26, and 29. Additionally, the power supply will be affected from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on these dates.

The power outage will affect areas that are connected to the Kilowal and Downstream feeders.
GEPCO has advised residents in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance. This also includes storing enough water to avoid inconvenience during the scheduled power outages.
NEPRA increases electricity prices
Previously, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increased electricity prices by 33 paisas per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment for May 2026 on July 8.
According to NEPRA, the increase is due to changes in fuel costs used for electricity generation during May.
Consumers will have to pay the additional amount in their July 2026 electricity bills. The increase will apply to consumers of electricity distribution companies across the country. This includes the K-Electric customers as well.
LESCO’s top officials receive power bills
Recently, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) ended the free electricity benefit for its Grade 18 to Grade 20 officers after nearly 30 years.
Under the new decision, these officers will now have to pay their electricity bills in full.
Under the previous policy, Grade 18 officers received 6,000 free electricity units each year. Grade 19 officers received 8,000 units. Additionally, Grade 20 officers were given 10,000 free units annually.
Some LESCO officers said that restoring this benefit in other power companies would not be fair.
They have asked the Ministry of Energy to end the free electricity facility across the country and introduce the same policy for all companies.
