Pakistan’s private airline, South Air, has officially kicked off domestic flight operations, launching services across multiple cities to improve regional air connectivity.
The airline began operations on July 16 (today), operating flights between Karachi, Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Turbat and Quetta using modern ATR 72-600 aircraft.
As part of its inaugural schedule, South Air operated eight flights, restoring air services to Bahawalpur and Turbat, which had remained without regular commercial flights for an extended period. Bahawalpur has also regained direct air connectivity with major cities after nearly three years.
In the first phase, the airline will operate regular flights between Karachi, Islamabad and Bahawalpur, while introducing new scheduled services from Karachi to Gwadar, Sukkur and Rahim Yar Khan. The expansion is expected to boost business, tourism, education and regional development.
South Air said its ATR 72-600 fleet has been selected for its fuel efficiency, operational reliability and compliance with international aviation safety standards.
South Air Chief Executive Officer Nishat Fatima said the airline plans to expand its fleet and route network in the near future to connect more cities across Pakistan.
“The establishment of South Air is not merely the addition of a new airline but a national effort to strengthen Pakistan’s air connectivity. Our commitment is to provide passengers with safe, punctual and high-quality travel services while connecting underserved regions with the national aviation network,” she said.
To promote tourism and hospitality, South Air has also signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dream World Destination Hotels and Golf Course to introduce joint travel packages, special discounts and tourism promotion initiatives.
According to the airline, its operations will focus on international safety standards, punctuality, operational transparency, professional excellence and customer service.
Aviation experts believe South Air’s entry into Pakistan’s aviation sector will enhance competition, improve regional connectivity and positively contribute to trade, tourism, investment and the national economy.
Passengers have been advised to follow the airline’s official channels for flight schedules, fares and booking information as commercial operations begin nationwide.
