Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the government to reopen Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the private media outlet reported on Friday.
“If the state of Pakistan can help bring peace between the United States and Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, then it should also reopen Kashmir,” Chairman PPP said while addressing an election gathering in AJK’s Dadyal.
Bilawal made these remarks as sit-ins and protests sparked more violence in parts of AJK before the July 27 elections.
Earlier, the AJK government on June 5 banned the Awami Action Committee under the Anti-Terrorism Act, saying that the organisation is involved in terrorism.
The ban was imposed after the banned Awami Action Committee planned protests in AJK to abolish the 12 reserved seats for refugees from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) who migrated to Pakistan after 1947.
Bilawal Bhutto urged Kashmiri people to trust PPP for the upcoming elections in AJK on July 27. He also said that there is no issue that can’t be solved with political dialogue.
Bilawal Bhutto also requested the authorities and protesters to stop creating problems for the ordinary people of Kashmir.
The government has to maintain its writ, but it can’t punish all the Kashmiris, Bilawal said while addressing a political gathering.
