The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved a major increase in the performance allowance for government officers working in the attorney cadre, according to reports today.
The provincial cabinet has decided to raise the allowance from 60 per cent to 100 per cent under a revised policy for attorney cadre officers.
According to an official notification, the performance allowance will now be equal to the officer’s initial basic pay under the 2022 pay scale. The amount will not be counted for pension or gratuity. It will also be subject to income tax.
The notification says the allowance will not be paid during extraordinary leave, long-term leave or suspension.
It also makes clear that officers outside the attorney cadre will not receive this allowance. Employees who are working on market-based salaries or under special pay packages are also not eligible.
The KP government has also cancelled all previous notifications and orders related to the attorney cadre performance allowance.

Earlier, the KP government also approved an increase in the House Requisition Allowance for employees working in the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and the Governor’s Secretariat.
