PESHAWAR: Senior officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has been abducted amid the worsening security situation of the province.
As per details, the police officer abducted has been identified as Station House Officer (SHO) Abid Ullah Khan was abducted by armed militants from the central Peepal Bazaar area of Bannu city on Sunday morning.
According to police sources, SHO Khan, son of Gul Khan, was conducting a routine patrol when the militants suddenly surrounded him. The gunmen overpowered the officer at gunpoint, abducting him and seizing his motorcycle.
A militant group Lashkar-e-Defa-e-Al-Quds claimed responsibility for the abduction.
The remarks came at the time when the province is witnessing a sharp rise in terrorist incidents.
In a separate development earlier at least 14 KP police officials of Khyber district suspended for their alleged involvement in corruption, drug smuggling and other illegal activities.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, the suspended cops have been ordered to report to Police Lines Khyber district.
The police officials revealed that four SHOs have also been issued show-cause notices over negligence in duties. DPO Khyber district has called for explanation and demanded a written reply within 7 days.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police CCPO said that there is no place for corrupt and dishonest officials in the provincial police.
Amid the recent sharp rise in terrorist incidents across the province, only honest and duty-conscious officers and personnel will remain in the police force, the CCPO added.
