Cricketer Naseem Shah’s House Attacked

Web desk: Unknown gunmen opened fire on the house of national cricket team fast bowler Naseem Shah in Lower Dir on Monday, police said.

The attack partially damaged the main gate, windows, and a vehicle. Authorities have launched a search operation. Till now, five suspects have been taken into custody, and a case has been filed at Jandol Mayaar Police Station against them.

Unknown persons opened fire on the house of national cricket team fast bowler Naseem Shah in Lower Dir, police said.

The main gate, windows, and a vehicle were partially damaged during the attack.

A heavy contingent of police reached the scene immediately after receiving the information. The attackers managed to escape, police added.

Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, taking five suspects into custody. A case has been registered at Jandol Mayaar Police Station, and operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining assailants.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects following a complaint by Naseem Shah’s father and have launched an investigation.

The bowler’s father told police that he has no enmity or dispute with anyone. Authorities confirmed that Naseem Shah was not at home when the attack occurred.

The 22-year-old pacer is a key member of the Pakistan national cricket team. He made his Test debut against Australia in 2019 and has represented Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is.

Early in his career, he became the second-youngest Pakistani bowler to take a five-wicket haul in Tests. He is popularly known for his pace and swing. Shah has quickly become a major asset in Pakistan’s bowling attack.

Authorities said they are working with local law enforcement to enhance protection. Police added that they will continue questioning the arrested suspects to investigate.

Officials are also reviewing whether additional security measures are needed for Shah and other national players, according to reports.
