ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has announced that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to London will begin from Islamabad on October 25.

He said that two flights per week will be operated by PIA for Manchester.

Khawaja Asif added that this success was achieved due to the tireless efforts of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The minister further said that the ban on PIA flights was imposed during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Earlier the Pakistan High Commission had also announced that Pakistan International Airlines will restart flights to the United Kingdom this month.

The announcement, made on social media platform X, did not mention an exact date.

“High Commissioner Dr Muhammad Faisal is grateful to the UK Civil Aviation Authority for issuing the Foreign Aircraft Operating Permit (FOP) today, the final requirement for commercial flights between the UK and Pakistan,” the post said.

According to the statement, PIA will first resume flights to Manchester, followed by Birmingham and London in the next phase.
