Pakistan women’s fast bowler Aiman Anwar has announced her retirement from international cricket.
Anwar represented Pakistan between July 2016 and February 2023, playing eight one-day internationals and 37 T20 internationals.
She made her mark in cricket after representing Karachi Under-19 in the PCB National Under-19 Women’s Championship in January 2010.
During her international career, Anwar took four ODI wickets and 29 T20 wickets.
She was part of Pakistan’s squads at the 2018, 2020 and 2022-23 ICC Women’s T20 World Cups, as well as the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Following her retirement as a player, Anwar has continued her involvement in cricket as a broadcaster.
She also completed a match referee course in January and made her debut in that role at the National Women’s Under-19 Tournament on Monday.
Meanwhile on the other hand, former India Test captain Ajinkya Rahane announced his retirement from all forms of professional cricket with immediate effect.
In an emotional video message shared on social media, Rahane said he believed it was the right time to end his playing career.
Reflecting on his decision, he compared retirement to batting, saying that choosing the right moment was just as important as timing a shot.
Rahane began his cricket journey as a young player from Dombivli with the ambition of representing India. He said he had always placed his country and team ahead of himself and described wearing the Indian jersey as a great honour.
The former captain also expressed pride at having witnessed the growth of Indian cricket over the past two decades.
Although he has ended his playing career, Rahane said he plans to remain involved in the sport by mentoring young cricketers and sharing his experience with the next generation.
He thanked the BCCI, Mumbai Cricket Association, teammates, coaches, IPL franchises, family and fans for their support throughout his career.
