The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police have officially guaranteed a safe and return passage for citizens who wish to exit the ongoing Rawalakot long march, organised by the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).

In a press release issued on Sunday by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) spokesperson, authorities categorically rejected rumors circulating on social media that individuals leaving the protest would face immediate arrest or violent retaliation from law enforcement personnel.

The police spokesperson labelled these claims as entirely “false and baseless,” explaining that the misinformation was being intentionally spread by elements associated with the banned organisation to spread fear and panic.

According to the statement, a large number of young individuals from districts including Bhimber and Mirpur had arrived in Rawalakot to join the march. However, many have become disillusioned with the protest leadership’s aggressive approach and now wish to return to their families.

“These youth are respected citizens of our state,” the spokesperson stated, emphasising that the police have no intention of harming or prosecuting those who peacefully exit the demonstration.

To facilitate their smooth exit, the AJK Police have established dedicated Facilitation Centers.

Earlier, JAAC opened fire on a police flag march in Rawalakot, damaging a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC)

Officials said the APC sustained significant damage, with both rear tyres bursting after being struck by gunfire. More than 30 bullet marks were found on the vehicle’s body following the attack.
